It’s almost February half term already, it’s come round far too quickly , these kids need something to occupy them over their week off and there must be something better than staring at a screen for seven days straight. And there is! Here are five fun, interesting and cheap activities taking place around Bristol over half term week that will entertain and inspire your kids, as well as keeping them out of trouble.
Wildlife Photographer of the Year at M Shed

This acclaimed photography exhibition arrives at Bristol’s M-Shed in its 55th year, presenting the best images of the natural world, including 100 new images carefully selected and produced by the Natural History Museum, London. For your little wildlife enthusiasts this will be the perfect event to open up a new side of nature to them this half term, exhibiting images spanning across 50 years of photography, covering the most diverse parts of the globe. Running from 23rd November until 4th May, tickets for this exhibit are only £6 for adults, while kids go free, it cannot be missed. Tickets and more information can be found here.
Conservation Heroes at Bristol Zoo Gardens

Bristol Zoo are keen to get everyone active this half term with the opening of their brand new family trail focusing on conservation of wildlife and educating visitors about protecting over 400 species of animals. Perfect for budding zoologists, conservationists and animal lovers, this trail allows you to meet the animals and the experts that look after them, as well as getting your kids hands on with games and crafts in the Activity Centre. Taking place over the half term week from 15th to 23rd February, tickets are £9.90 for children up to 14. Rocket Ship Adventure at We The Curious

Experience this unique journey through the cosmos at Bristol’s We the Curious, as they present a fascinating exploration of our solar system, in their unique planetarium. Designed by their expert staff, specifically for children aged between 4 and 7, this adventure will inspire and delight both parents and kids alike. Woodland Tribe Activity at Windmill Hill City Farm

For something a bit different this half term, get down to Windmill Hill City Farm in south Bristol and teach your kids how to build their own playground for free! Woodland Tribe lets kids get hands on with hammers, nails and a range of tools in a safe environment, teaching them valuable and practical skills, all while having a great time building their own dens using natural, local materials. This event is only taking place on Tuesday 18th February, over three slots from 9.30am-11.30am, 12-2pm and 2-4pm. It is free for everyone but limited to children over the age of 6. Mermaids and Monsters at Bristol Aquarium

Don’t miss the chance of a lifetime this half term to meet a mermaid at Bristol Aquarium and discover the many fascinating creatures that lurk in the depths of the sea and Bristol’s local rivers. Also enjoy a tour of the aquarium and then craft your own monster in the arts and crafts area. Tamara, the real life mermaid will be visiting dry land from 10am to 3pm, every day this half term and meeting her will be an unforgettable experience for your little mermaids.
