The world-renowned Cheltenham Festival is the annual horse-racing event at Cheltenham racecourse, spread over a four day period, from 12-15th of March. Known for its picturesque background and top race cards, this is cosidered as the crème de la crème for racing enthusiasts. Get there early:
Charming Cheltenham train station is approx. 35 minutes away from the race course. Allow yourself to get there at least 45 minutes before the first race as there is usually queues & congestion. You dont want to miss a race when you've paid for the whole day!
Check the weather forecast:
Although Cheltenham festival prises itself for its fashionable dress code, it is still recommendable to make sure you're dressed appropriately for the weather.
Familiarise yourself with the racecourse:
Cheltenham racecourse can be surprisingly overwhelming in size - if it's your first time then it might be worth checking out a detailed map here.

Champion Day - Tuesday 12th March

Ladies Day - Wednesday 13th March
Remember seeing the large extravagant hats on TV? The Queen Mother of all Racedays "Sees city girls become country girls and tweed become fashionably becoming". This is the day for dressing up! The popular #ColourMeMarch competition is back in fashion for this years ladies day with several awards for best outfits.
St. Patrick's Thursday - 14th of March
Get your Guinness hats on and prepare for a day of brilliant racing and live music!
The Thursday is considered a typically Irish affair with the Guinness Village being a star attraction.
Gold Cup Day - Friday 15th of March
This is the big one - the race of all races! The entire racing world stops to witness sporting excellence as the best Jump horses in the world challenge on the biggest stage. The Friday typically tends to be the busiest so make sure to get your tickets as soon as possible.
