As summer is coming to an end, and the colder more shorter nights are upon us, and I bet you're thinking of ways to entertain yourself this autumn. Well look no further, here you'll find four amazing events happening right here in Bristol this September. From sipping cocktails, to supporting partakers in a half marathon to watching an award winning musical, make sure you add these to your transition into Autumn to do list!
Disney's Lion King at Bristol Hippodrome
(7 Sept-23 Nov)
Disney’s award-winning musical, The Lion King comes to Bristol Hippodrome this autumn. Exploding with colours, enchanting music and incredible effects, it follows the story of Simba as he journeys through his destined role as King of the Pridelands. It's a great hit with all the family!
Great Bristol Half Marathon (15 Sept)
Returning in its fourth year as part of the Great Run Series, the 2019 Simplyhealth Great Bristol Half Marathon will take place on the 15th September. With over 100,000 runners every year this must do event is just as rewarding for supports as it is for the partakers. The course takes a scenic route, starting and finishing at the Harbourside, taking the runners along the Portway, through the beautiful Avon Gorge, twice under the famous Brunel’s Clifton Suspension Bridge, and along Cumberland Road around the old city.
Encourters Film Festival (24-29 Sept)
Bristol’s largest international film festival celebrates its 25th edition this year. In celebration of this edition, Encounters Film Festival are throwing it back to their roots with a 90s-inspired programme stand. It’s a weekend programme packed with film fun for all the family to take part in workshops, talks and master classes. There is something for everyone, so get yourself down there and check it out!
Bristol Cocktail Weekend (27-29 Sept)
Got a free weekend? Well this is going to be right up your street. Cocktail Weekend is a three day social event, sampling new cocktails and adventuring across Bristol to discover and explore the city’s hidden gem cocktail bars. With over 20 participating bars, you will be spoilt for choice. So what better excuse to try something new and find a new favourite bar or drink?
