St Paul's Carnival Returns
On the 7th of July 2018 Saint Paul’s Carnival returns to Bristol after a four year hiatus. As Bristol’s first ever carnival that began in 1968, it is back with a bang to celebrate its 50th anniversary! Starting at 12 noon, it will go on until 22.00pm. The carnival is a vibrant celebration of Afro-Caribbean culture so be sure to expect amazing floats, extravagant costumes and music from multiple sound systems as well as performances on the main stage.
50th anniversary of the carnival means lots of glitter, food, music and most importantly dance! Every float, stage and performer tells a story which symbolises the strength in bringing people together. The aim of the carnival, especially in lieu with its iconic anniversary celebrations, will be to inform, engage and inspire people.
The festival will be a show of community, diversity and creativity. Over 1000 people are taking part in the procession parading through the streets of Bristol. The theme for this year is Unity so start getting your costume ready and get plenty of rest the night before for an unforgettable day that will be wild!
When the carnival comes to an end, do not fret! There are multiple after-parties happening across the city. Lakota will be playing a range of drum and bass with performances from DRS, Break and many more. Motion will be playing reggae, dub, bashment and Jungle + Bass. Also, don’t miss out on the all-night BBQ and cocktail bar. Top tip: they’ll be serving jerk chicken, vodka watermelon and an abundance of alcohol!
If indeed you find that you’ll need somewhere to relax after a long day and put your feet up, our hotels are the place for you. Our four hotels that are spread across Clifton range from comfortable budget to boutique suites. Unwind and absorb the not so distant memories of Saint Paul’s Carnival!
