We were wondering whether or not you have any plans this weekend, specifically 28th - 30th of July? If you don't, why not visit Upfest - The Urban Festival 2018. If you're a lover of art, urban art specifically, then you will not want to miss this!
Upfest is celebrating their 10th anniversary this year and it is expected to be stunning. With more than 350 artists hitting the streets of Bristol, you can definitely expect bold colour, emotion and talent!
Not only is Upfest celebrating their 10th anniversary, they are also celebrating the 100 year mark since women got the vote! They have collaborated with Bristol Women's Voice, an organisation that works to ensure that women's voices and concerns are heard in Bristol! Expect to see lots of inspiring messages!
Another exciting feature of this year's Upfest will be The Simpsons theme, 'Springfield coming to South Bristol'. There will be various interpretations of the famous family and everyone's favourite characters, so look out for your favourite!
Upfest will take place across Bedminister and Southville area which is situated in South Bristol. It will take place across over 35 venues and locations centred around the 2km stretch of North Street. In recent yeras the festival has grown and now includes satellite painting locations along East Street, West Street and Winterstoke Road.
Here are a few photos of the pieces from Upfest 2017!
With over 50,000 visitors last year, we are expecting the same and more! Upfest is the opportunity for expression, passion, inspiration and an outlet for outstanding talent.
We would like to let you in on a little secret - Bristol's gem! 'Where the Wall' is Bristol's largest and longest running street art and Banksy related tour. These tours are the perfect activity for those who are keen art lovers. They even include a history of Bristol along the way - which is a fantastic way of getting to know Bristol if you're new to the city! Here is a link to their website - be sure to take a look and book yourself a fun adventure!
In terms of Upfest, we recommend that you either wear something bright and meaningful to you or alternatively, go as a blank canvas with plain clothing and blend into the art.
If you're looking for a place to stay, get in touch. We wouldd be more than happy to help you out. We hope you enjoy the festival and take lots of photos!
