What's on in Bristol this December
December and the cold that has been brought with it seem to have somehow sneaked up on us this year. Many a wolly hat, scarf and gloves have been seen out in full force as everyone bares the cold chill in the run up to Christmas. As the winter uniform comes out it brings with a sense of festive cheer. The daily commute aside, having to cosy up in your winter accessories means Christmas markets, mulled wine and Bratwurst – what could be better?! December looks to be the busiest month this year so make sure you don’t miss out and check out our run down.
Kicking things off and the perfect thing to ensure that you finish your Christmas shopping early is Bristol Bazaar Pop Up Shop. Located at The Island in the centre of the city, they will open their doors on the 1st giving you plenty of time to pop by. Everything on offer will be from Bristol based designers so you’ll have the opportunity to get something really unique whilst shopping local and supporting the cities creatives.
BS5 Market 3rd Dec
BS5 Market runs the first Sunday of every month but we wanted to give it a special shout out this month as the 3rd will mark its first birthday! Come down to St Georges Park to celebrate a wonderful year of trading by a whole array of Bristol based producers. Offering everything from free range meat and freshly baked bread to vintage clothes and more we’re sure something will take your fancy. With freshly brewed coffee and hot street food available make a day of it.
Next up something for tourists and locals alike. Take a walking tour around the city on the look out for some of Bristol’s most iconic street art with Bristol graffiti artist Rob Wheeler. He’ll share his passion for the art with you as well as taking you on a journey of discovery about famous Bristol artists and the scene itself. Sign up here.
If you dread the festive season because you really can’t stand anything mulled, be it wine or cider, then this may be just the thing. If you can swing an early finish on a Friday why not book in for Bristol Hopppers Beery Tour on the 8th of the month. You’ll be guided around the city to some of the best pubs and breweries Bristol has to offer, sampling their wares on the way. End the tour in graffiti heavy Stokes Croft and show off your knowledge to the rest of the group that you learnt from the above event!
The Bristol Artisan at the RWA 9th and 10th Dec
The second weekend of the month holds yet another opportunity to have a crack at your Christmas shopping. The second Bristol Artisan will be held at the RWA after a successful launch earlier in the year. Join 40 Designer Makers as they offer up their creations in the beautiful setting of the Royal West Academy and tick off a couple more presents off the list.
The last thing we recommend before winding down for Christmas is the Spiegeltent Masquerade Ball. We hear this is going to be the highlight of the festive season’s social calendar and we are hardly surprised. Keeping you entertained will be live music, cabaret, magical surprises and tunes from top DJs to keep you dancing all night. It is a Masquerade Ball so a mask is must – be fabulous, be outrageous and enjoy a fantastic evening!
