What's on in Bristol this November
Remember; remember the 5th of November…we can hardly believe the 1st of November is almost upon us let alone the 5th. Somehow however, it is. Winter is officially here and really we want nothing more than to crawl back under the covers on those dark, dreary mornings and wait for spring. That said, there is a something very special about layering up with warms knits and wool coats and heading out to explore and November had no shortage of things events to explore.
Downend Round Table Fireworks 3rd Nov
Kicking the month off is Bristol’s biggest fireworks display with Downend Round Table on the first Friday of the month. Wrap up warm like we mentioned and head over and enjoy a display that will warrant many an ‘ooo’ and a ‘ahh’. Also on offer stalls selling a variety of food, including pulled pork, burgers and for those of you with a sweet tooth, candy floss. Tickets are available online and at various local shops.
If heading out into the cold to enjoy the fireworks isn’t your thing then give your senses a treat of a different kind. Romantic Masterworks at St George’s Bristol will transport you to another place with works from some of the most influential composers of the 19th and 20th century. Expect to feel a whole wonder of emotions as you are guided on an exciting journey from start to finish. Tickets are limited so be quick.
Record Fair at Colston Hall 4th Nov
Bristol is renowned for its love of music and also it’s love of vinyl, so it only seems fitting that the city hold a Record Fair. Located at impressive Bristol venue, Colston Hall, browse a whole variety of stalls to find a great bargain or an expensive rarity that would be pride of place in your collection. The doors are open from 10am – 4 pm and entry is free so peruse at your leisure.
So it’s time to mention the ‘C’ word. As much as it pains us to do it Christmas is just around that November corner. December will hit and it will be full on Christmas chaos so maybe it’s better to ease you in slowly during November. And what better way than with The Big Clifton Christmas Tree Switch on that will take place on the 8th. The Mall gardens will be home to a fantastic 50ft Norway Spruce for eight weeks in the run up to the big day and as soon as day becomes dusk the tree will twinkle with Christmas magic to get you fully in the moody for the festivities to come.
Bristol's Christmas Market 10th Nov – 24th Dec
Keeping on the Christmas theme (this is the last one we promise) Bristol Christmas Market opens on the 10th. 40 wooden chalet-style stalls will return to Broadmead to bring a winter wonderland style atmosphere. Get your shopping done early with an array of wonderful gift items on offer and new for this year is the Jägerbarn bar which we are particularly looking forward to.
End the month and relive your childhood in a way with Fairytales for Grown-ups at The Cube Cinema. A double bill to include The Blacksmith at Bridge of Bones and Little Red Riding Hood and other Lost Girls. Fairytales as you have never seen them before, this one is set to be an interesting evening.
