What's on in Bristol this September
With what could be a very disappointing end to the summer weather this month, we have all our hopes set on an unusually bright September. The thought of unpacking the winter jumpers from the back of the wardrobe is one that we want to extend for as long as possible and so will you once you hear our run down for the month. This could well be a contender for best month of the year but we’ll leave that to you. Enjoy!
The Other Art Fair 1st – 3rd Sept
Kicking the month off is a firm favourite of ours. The Bristol edition of world famous, The Other Art Fair will be back in the city from the 1st – 3rd. Bringing together both local artists and others from across the UK, this event is truly unique in the experience it offers. Talk directly with the creators about the inspiration behind their pieces in the relaxed atmosphere of the Arnolfini. With such a broad range of artwork on show, we can guarantee that you will find something you love.
For the second year running, we are partnering with the show, meaning complimentary tickets are on offer here, just enter the code 'CLIFTONHOTELS'.
The Downs Festival 2nd Sept
Keeping the festival season alive, The Downs Festival takes place on the 2nd. If Elbow as the headliner isn’t enough to tempt you then The Information Stage will. Playing host to talks and debates over the course of the day, that will cover both social and political topics at the forefront of modern society. Join the conversation and get an exclusive 20% off your ticket here.
Play Me I’m Yours Until 7th Sept
Play Me I’m Yours, an artwork by Bristol artist Luke Jerram, has already started but continues this month and we thought it was too good not to mention. We have been lucky enough to enjoy strangers playing on more that one occasion as one of the pianos ideally, is located on the lunch run and it really is a special moment. If you are yet to spot one make sure you do before the 7th. See the full list of locations here.
Dinner in the Sky 7th – 12th Sept
If you have a fear of heights then we suggest you skip this paragraph. Events in the Sky, along with some of Bristol’s best restaurants will be holding a 4 day pop up dining experience 100 feet in the air. Guests can expect to be fastened in to the 22 seat table before it makes its ascent skyward. Once there watch the chef cook in the centre of the table as the waiting staff navigate the platform to serve you. Pick your preferred sitting and enjoy a meal to remember.
Bristol Rum Festival at Paintworks 9th-10th September
If heights aren’t for you, then keep your feet firmly on the ground with the Bristol Rum Festival. Held at Paintworks the second weekend of the month, expect Rum and lots of it. After four successful years in Cardiff, the festival will be testing the water in Bristol and we are predicting good things. Live music and street food will, of course, be on offer and talks with master distillers will round off the event so you can learn all about your favourite spirit.
Guest Chef evenings at The Pony and Trap 19th Sept
Guest chef evenings at Michelin Star, The Pony and Trap are already underway, but the parties not over and some might say the best is yet to come. Bristol favourite Josh Eggleton has been opening his pub doors once a month to some of the UK’s most esteemed chefs to create a six-course tasting menu available for only one night. Talent so far has included Michael Bremner, Tommy Banks, and Tom Brown to name a few. This month’s guest is Emily Watkins and we can’t wait!
