Bristol's Best Picnic Spots
Now that the weather is improving a little, it’s time to combine Britain’s two favourite things: sunny weather and great food! We have compiled a list of some of the best picnic spots in and around Bristol for you to flock to this summer. So head over to your nearest deli, stock up on as many scotch eggs and beers as you can fit in your picnic basket, and head to one of these beautiful outdoor spots.
Only a short drive from Bristol’s city centre, Cheddar Gorge is an easy escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. With stunning views of the surrounding area, this is the ideal spot for a picnic on a sunny day. Be sure to visit the caves whilst you’re there, or head to the idyllic village of Cheddar for a post-picnic ice cream.
Just minutes from the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Ashton Court has a vast expanse of green land set around the iconic yellow mansion. With its own bicycle trail, you can combine your picnic with a summer cycle ride, to feel slightly less guilty about all the food eaten at lunch! You can even catch a spot of golf on the estate’s golf course.
Located just off the Clifton Triangle, Brandon Hill is another great grassy spot to enjoy your picnic. Bristol’s population flocks here in the summer to relax amongst gorgeous views and to visit the famous Cabot Tower. We recommend taking a trip up Tower whilst you’re there, for an even better view of the city!
St Andrew's Park
Just off Bristol’s Gloucester Rd, you’ll find the wonderful St Andrews Park. With a children’s playground and a giant paddling pool, this is the perfect picnic spot for anyone with children.
